You can also save multiple layered edits as setups so you can apply when you open an image or run a batch applying a setup to the multiple images of your choosing (standalone version). After you create the Selection mask you can click anywhere on the picture to alter the mask in real time. You can shrink the mask as well and it reminds me very much of the Nik/Capture Nx2 much beloved control points. There are selection masks, using luminosity or hue or many other choices. The ez mask function is truly easy and results are very good.
There are layers and blend modes, multiple masks can be used on a layer. It is well worth your time spending an evening with the software, favoriting presets you like, and adjusting the parameters and creating your own. You can adjust the parameters of the presets and then create your own.
The beauty of the software is that it is so adjustable.
The diffusion adjustments all seem a bit strong for my taste so I pull those back from the lowest preset even. The color adjusments are quite lovely and clean. I have the standalone version of Dfx4 and also the photoshop plugin version of Dfx3.
